Fridley PD arrests teen after school threats cancel classes
FRIDLEY, Minn. (FOX 9) - A teen boy is being held after threats made on social media led to classes being canceled two days in a row in Fridley, Minn.
Threats cancel classes
What we know:
Fridley Public School notified police about the threats made on social media on the evening of Jan. 14.
Out of an abundance of caution, the district canceled after school activities that night and then classes on Wednesday. The district then announced on Wednesday it would also cancel classes again on Thursday.
On Wednesday evening, Fridley police announced it had arrested a 13-year-old boy in connection to the threats. He is being held in Lino Lakes Juvenile Detention.
What's next:
Police say, as they were investigating the threats made on Tuesday, they learned of additional "potential threats" made on social media. They are continuing to investigate those posts.
Again, the district has already canceled classes for Thursday. Friday and Monday were already previously scheduled days off for the district, so students won't return to class until after the long weekend.
