Hawaii doctor accused of trying to kill wife on hiking trail

A doctor in Hawaii is accused of trying to kill his wife by attempting to push her off a hiking trail, according to authorities. 

The backstory:

The Honolulu Police Department said 46-year-old Gerhardt Konig of Maui was on Oahu with his wife when "he attempted to push her off a hiking trail and struck her in the head with a rock."

His wife was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. 

Local outlets alleged Konig pushed his wife after she refused to take a picture with him.

Dr. Konig’s medical staff privileges at Maui Memorial Medical Center have been suspended pending investigation. Maui Health takes these concerns and the safety of its patients very seriously and will cooperate with authorities as appropriate."
