Hockey and hope: 3rd-annual Quinn's Cup Tournament

The 3rd annual Quinn’s Cup was held at Centennial Lakes in Edina Saturday.

It’s an outdoor pond hockey tournament in honor and memory of Quinn Kirsch.

8-year-old Quinn Kirsch died suddenly January 6, 2013. His family later found out weeks later he died from Viral Myocarditis.

"He was just an innocent little 8-year-old... That's been the difficult thing." Quinn’s dad, Kyle Kirsch said.

Hockey players came from Edina, Bloomington and New Prague to raise money and awareness for myocarditis at the annual event and honor the life of Quinn.

"He was always smiling, he had these big buck teeth." Kyle Kirsch said.

"He was a really happy kid." Kyle Kirsch said.

More than 500 kids participated in Quinn’s cup this year and organizers say they actually ran out of spots for teams to sign up in December and they’re already thinking about adding an extra ice rink for next year’s event.
