Michigan hockey doctor, already facing multiple charges, accused of abusing players in MN
Dr. Zvi Levran (FOX 2 Detroit)
(FOX 9) - A Michigan doctor, already facing abuse charges in his home state, is now accused of abusing young hockey players in Minnesota.
Charges against Dr. Zvi Levran
What we know:
Dr. Zvi Levran was charged Wednesday in Otter Tail County with multiple counts of criminal sexual conduct.
The criminal complaint against Levran alleges the abuse dates back to 2014 when he served as a "hockey doctor" in the area.
The victims in Minnesota came forward after Dr. Levran was charged with similar crimes in Michigan.
The complaint accuses Levran of groping two teen victims. Victim 1 reported Levran groping his groin and butt area – even though the player had only suffered an ankle injury during a game in late 2014 or early 2015. The victim reported two other incidents about a year later where he says Levran touched his private areas while checking out a back injury.
Victim 2 told investigators the doctor had digitally penetrated him while inspecting a tailbone injury – which the victim said other doctors had never done when he had suffered previous tailbone injuries.
Levran faces charges in Michigan
The backstory:
Levran already faces charges in Farmington Hills, Michigan for abusing young hockey players.
According to FOX 2 in Detroit, Levran was originally arrested in 2022 on multiple counts of criminal sexual conduct for abusing hockey players as a doctor. Like the Minnesota case, the abuse allegedly occurred during examinations.
In Sept. 2024, the Oakland Press newspaper in Michigan reported Levran faced a new set of charges for allegedly sending explicit photos of himself to a minor patient.
Levran remains in custody in the Oakland County, Michigan Jail.
