Security guard arrested for allegedly stabbing man at downtown Minneapolis bar: Police

A security guard at The Saloon, a downtown Minneapolis bar, has been arrested after an apparent stabbing over the weekend, according to police.

What we know: Just after 2 a.m. on Saturday, officers responded to a report of a stabbing at The Saloon, a bar located on the 800 block of Hennepin Avenue South in downtown Minneapolis, according to police. 

The preliminary investigation suggests a man and a security guard got into an altercation, resulting in the man getting stabbed and sustaining apparent life-threatening injuries. During the altercation, the security guard also sustained apparent non-life-threatening injuries, police said, and both men were transported to Hennepin Healthcare Hospital.

The security guard was later released from the hospital and booked into the Hennepin County Jail for assault. As of Monday afternoon, he had not been officially charged.

What we don’t know: Police are working to determine what led to the stabbing, but have not said whether a weapon has been recovered. 

The current condition of the victim was not immediately available. The stabbing remains under investigation.
