Deadly shooting in Richfield

What we know: The criminal complaint alleges the shooting happened in the early morning hours of Dec. 6 outside the home of Luke Cain on 5th Avenue South near East 62nd Street – just west of Veterans Park.

According to the complaint, around 3:30 a.m., Cain, 29, confronted the group as they climbed into a Ford F-150.

Initially, police say Cain called 911 to report the theft but didn't mention firing shots. But, in a follow-up interview this week, Cain admitted to firing two shots at the group as the F-150 drove away.

The victim was found in Minneapolis after a separate 911 call to Hiawatha Avenue. Police say the victim, a woman, had been shot in the back of her head. She was rushed to the hospital where she died.
