New drug detection technology is coming to officers patrolling Minnesota roads.

Minnesota is more than a year away from retail cannabis sales, but the industry is already adding jobs.

The Minnesota Department of Health says recent inspections found more than a third of businesses were selling high-dose THC products that exceeded state limits. Some contained "hundreds of milligrams of THC per serving" while the state only allows 50 mg for an entire package.

Applications for licenses to grow and process industrial amounts of hemp in Minnesota are now open to Minnesotans, subject to restrictions.

The oral fluid, or saliva-based, tests will screen for six different drug categories, including cannabis and opioids.

The center will, “assess the impact of adult-use cannabis legalization and help inform future cannabis policies and practices across the state of Minnesota."

The new agency overseeing Minnesota's marijuana industry, as the state moves forward with legalization, is now asking for the public's input on its rules.
