'I am Betty' explores history of Betty Crocker
There's a new musical exploring the impact of Betty Crocker. "I am Betty" is taking place on stage this holiday season at the History Theatre in St. Paul. Betty is a fictitious character whipped up by General Mills, who went on to become an icon. The show is on stage through December 23rd.
GLOW Holiday Festival opens in St. Paul
GLOW Holiday Festival is back at CHS Field in St. Paul. The outdoor, walk-through event will take guests through over a million lights, from tunnels to selfie plaza, enchanted forest a giant snowy slide and the tremendous tree. New this year, they’ve added a zipline. It is an extra cost but takes guests across center field for a birds-eye view of the event. Food and beverage stations are sprinkled throughout the festival grounds, and will be serving up holiday goodies, snacks, hot chocolate, cider, liquor, beer, and wine. GLOW will run through Dec. 31 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. nightly. There are a few evenings the event will be closed so check their online schedule before attending.
Chef Ann Kim unveils new restaurant in Minneapolis
One of the Twin Cities top chefs has opened a new restaurant in a familiar space. James Beard Award winner, Ann Kim, has flipped her uptown eatery from Sooki & Mimi to Kim’s. There’s a new mural, new name, new menu and new themed basement bar called Bronto Bar. It’s an ode to things that are extinct. The Korean American restaurant menu reflects Kim’s heritage and cultural journey. It’s open seven days a week from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Bronto Bar is open Thursday through Saturday. Kim’s is located at 1432 W 3st St. in Uptown.
Poinsettia farm in Farmington: Behind the scenes
The flower of the holidays is ready for the spotlight. Poinsettias are in full bloom and on store shelves. Bachman’s grows 60,000 of the bright red flower and many varieties in its greenhouses just south of the Twin Cities metro, in Farmington. The flower is native to Mexico and has some strict growing conditions including a period of darkness in September and consistently warm temperatures in the 60s and 70s, no drafts allowed. Once the poinsettias are out of the greenhouses the garden company will begin growing hydrangeas for the summer.
Give to the Max: Roots for the Home Team
If you paid a visit to target field this season, maybe you've spotted a salad cart parked near the big entrance to the ball park. Did you know the salads they're serving up are helping teens craft not only job skills, but confidence to launch into the next levels of life? The non-profit behind the salad cart is called Roots for the Home Team, and they're taking their idea to another professional sports venue in the near future. They joined FOX 9 Good Day on Give to the Max Day to share more about their mission and their next new venture.
Adorable puppies escape pen on FOX 9 Good Day
A litter of 9 puppies stole the show on FOX 9 Good Day. The pups are currently being cared for by Ruff Start Rescue. The non-profit is sharing the power of Give to the Max Day. It's their largest fundraiser of the year and every dollar donated helps them continue the mission of helping countless animals in need.
Dierks Bentley in town for Heart 360 Concert
This weekend there's only one place in the metro where you can hear an award winning country artist and raise money for a worthy cause at the same time. Dierks Bentley is performing at the armory on Saturday as part of the Heart 360 concert. It will benefit the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation and its work towards lifesaving research and education.

Finding the right career path can take awhile. In fact, according to the Department of Labor, the average person has held 12 different jobs by the time they are 50. November is National Career Development Month. The Lift Garage makes big impact in MPLS
If you've ever had an unexpected car problem, you know, the repair bill can be costly! For some, that cost is just too much to bear. One woman has made it her mission to make affordable car repair a reality for Minnesotans. The Lift Garage in Minneapolis is a non-profit helping provide low-cost car repair services to people in need.
Mia highlights native photography in new exhibit
The Minneapolis Institute of Art has a new exhibit featuring more than 150 photographs taken of, by and for Indigenous people. It’s an idea a group of Native artists and scholars started seriously discussing in 2020 and now it’s adorning the walls of the Target Gallery. ‘In Our Hands: Native Photography, 1890 to Now’ runs through January 14, 2024. Public Tours take place at 2pm, Tuesday through Sunday, and 7pm on Thursday. An exhibition ticket is required.
The Grinch is back at Children's Theatre Company
For the 11th time, "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" has returned to the Children’s Theatre stage in Minneapolis. Actor and CTC Company member Reed Sigmund is playing the Grinch for the sixth time. The piece was originally commissioned and premiered in 1994. Artistic Director Peter Brosius has been at the helm for every Grinch production but this will be his last. Brosius is departing CTC at the end of the 2023/2024 season. The Grinch runs through Jan. 7.
American Swedish Institute mansion decked out for holidays
The castle in the heart of Minneapolis is open for holiday-themed tours. The American Swedish Institutes’ Turnblad Mansion is decked out for the 73rd Holiday Experience. This years’ theme is ‘Once Upon a Mansion’ and it examines traditions, myths and tales from Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Finland and the Sami people from the northern part of the Scandinavian Peninsula. The experience runs through Jan. 7. ASI is open Tuesday through Sunday.

An Minnesota couple is racking up millions of view on TikTok for their posts that feature plenty of relatable parenting moments. Dillon and Suzanne White never thought they're humor would resonate with such a wide audience. They were wrong. Lutefiskfestivalen takes over Norway House
The Norway House in Minneapolis is elevating the lutefisk dinner beyond what you're used to getting in your church's basement. The inaugural Twin Cities Lutefisk Festival welcomes an award-winning Norwegian chef and his team to showcase an upscale lutefisk experience. The Lutefiskfestivalen is being held Saturday November 11th from 6 pm TO 10 pm.
New music showcase coming to Excelsior
A new music showcase at 318 Cafe in Excelsior could help local artists get a big break. The event is spearheaded by producer Michael Koppelman. In the late 80s and early 90s Koppelman worked alongside Prince at Paisley Park. Now he's focused on helping other artists including Katy Tessman. Tessman and Koppelman joined FOX 9 Good Day to share a song they collaborated on called 'Broken Part'. AHS expands volunteer opportunities
The Animal Humane Society is expanding their volunteer roles as we head into the winter months. They've recently added community outreach and vet center facility care roles. Jen Rickert from AHS joined the FOX 9 Morning News to highlight the new opportunities.
Smash Park Roseville opens; pickleball courts and more
A brand new entertainment venue opens today in Roseville. Smash Park has a full array of indoor fun, and a spacious outdoor area for the warmer months. The facility has four indoor pickleball courts, and two outside. There’s a pro shop and they’ll offer leagues and tournaments. Beyond pickleball, there’s axe throwing, duckpin bowling, cornhole, darts, karaoke, an arcade and a restaurant with ‘scratch-driven’ food and a full bar with shareable drinks and even a shot ski. Smash Park is located at 1721 County Road C W in Roseville.
Como Park Conservatory's Sunken Garden in full bloom
While most of our gardens are done for the season, the Sunken Garden at the Como Park Conservatory is in full bloom. The second half of the fall flower show opened up over the weekend. It’s a nod to the celebration of Dia De Los Muertos. The show will be in place through Nov. 26th. The highly-anticipated Holiday Flower Show will open on Dec. 2nd.
