Amtrak derailment victims identified as Georgia couple, Illinois man

The three people who died when a train derailed in rural Montana over the weekend included a Georgia couple who were on a cross-country trip to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary and 29-year-old Illinois man who was traveling to Oregon with his wife.

NTSB: Amtrak train was going below speed limit before derailment

The National Transportation Safety Board briefed reporters Monday in Montana as investigators try to figure out what went wrong with Amtrak’s westbound Empire Builder train over the weekend. Three people were killed and seven were injured in the derailment.
