As we head into Thanksgiving week, it's likely going to get a whole lot colder as we enter a below average pattern across Minnesota and much of the Northern U.S. for just about the only time this fall.

A fairly quiet, tranquil, and mild weekend is in store to kick off our Thanksgiving week as many begin their holiday festivities. Early next week though, much of the northern & eastern U.S. is likely to enter a much colder pattern.

The next few days will be not as cold, with a mix of clouds and sun. But starting Monday, temperatures will drops and are expected to stay low through Thanksgiving.

Snowy roads Wednesday result in 577 crashes, 2 deaths

Freezing temperatures and snowfall resulted in slick road conditions on Wednesday and Thursday. The Minnesota State Patrol reported 577 crashes from midnight to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, two of which were fatal.

MN weather: Gray and windy day Thursday

Temperatures return to above freezing in the Twin Cities metro on Thursday, though it will be rather windy with gusts topping out at 40 mph. FOX 9 meteorologist Cody Matz has your forecast.
