A new era: Lindsay Whalen takes the floor as Gophers' new bench boss

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (KMSP) - It's a new era at Williams Arena, but with a familiar face. 

Lindsay Whalen made her debut as Gophers Women's Basketball Head Coach Friday night in a game against the University of New Hampshire. 

The Williams Arena crowd gave a loud ovation as Whalen took the floor for the first time, with nearly everyone in attendance taking their feet to cheer on the new coach. 

There was an excitement and buzz in the air as the team started the game.

It is just the first of hopefully many games in the Lindsay Whalen-era at Williams Arena and the team is sure to learn more as they go. 

The Gophers won the game 70-47.
