Arctic chill on the way

KMSP - Warm September… one of the warmest Octobers on Record… same for November, but it looks like our lucky streak might be ending… and SOON.  While it has been a mild first few days of December, the Arctic just opened their door and MUCH colder air is spilling southward out of Alaska, through Canada, and into the US.  The air in Alaska right now is well below zero… in some cases 30 plus degrees below zero.  So, at this point it’s only a matter of time before our mild 30s and 40s, turn into single digits and teens as that arctic air moderates some as it moves south.  Unfortunately though, this doesn’t even include the expected wind chills (what it feels like when combining the temperature and the wind) which will likely be around or below zero.

So when does the world come to an end? Well, the cold front will push through the state early Tuesday which means temperatures will likely fall through the day with some of us waking up to single digits on Wednesday. After that, we hold pretty steady and pretty steady in those teens and single digits for a while.  Yikes… talk about a rude awakening!

Will the cold come with snow??  No dice… well, no snow of any significance.  There will likely be a touch of light snow Saturday night and then again late Monday and into Tuesday, but all told, most locations will stay at or under an inch.
