Body of missing U of M student David Miller recovered from river
MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) - The Hennepin County Medical Examiner has confirmed the body recovered from the Mississippi River on Tuesday morning was that of missing University of Minnesota student David Miller.
The body was recovered near the Ford Parkway Bridge at about 6:13 a.m. after a boater sculling in the river reported seeing a body floating at Ford Parkway and Marshall Avenue.
Miller, a 20-year-old biological sciences student from St. Peter, Minn., was last seen leaving Wilkins Hall around 9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10. University of Minnesota Police Chief Matt Clark said there was no reason to suspect foul play in his disappearance.
The University of Minnesota posted the following statement on Facebook:
“We are deeply saddened to learn of the death of David Miller, a College of Biological Sciences student, who has been missing since Tuesday, May 10. Our thoughts are with David’s family, friends, classmates, and others in the University community who are grieving. The University of Minnesota Police Department appreciates the support from several local agencies in searching for David during the last week."
Counselors at Boynton Health Service and Student Counseling Services will be available for in-person, individual appointments. Walk-in hours are between 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
