Computer glitch with TSA watch list
MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) - A Homeland Security computer glitch related to TSA’s Secure Flight system caused delays at passenger check-in Friday morning at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport and others around the country. That system is used to match passengers against watch list maintained by the federal government, like the “No-Fly List,” and the “Selectee List,” for enhanced screening.
A TSA spokesperson, Lorie Dankers, confirms a “DHS-wide computer system outage that caused some delays in the check-in process.” Dankers adds that in some cases it impacted the printing of boarding passes.
The outage lasted approximately 45 minutes.
It is not clear how the outage impacted security procedures and TSA did not say how widespread the outage was, saying only it was not isolated to MSP.
