Fox 9 sits down with PJ Fleck ahead of Thursday's season opener

The Minnesota Golden Gophers football team enters this year as one of the youngest teams in all of college football with a true freshman, walk-on quarterback leading the way, but as of today, lap one of the race to maturity is officially on.

The Gophers are in game mode getting ready for their first game of 2018 Thursday night against New Mexico State.

It will be the first time that Head Coach PJ Fleck and the Gophers get to see some of these players play in a college football game with a majority of the roster classified as freshmen.

Fleck will have some seniors, like Rodney Smith, leading the way and though this is his second year at Minnesota, Fleck isn't what you would call more comfortable this time around heading into a new season.

Fox 9 will have much more with Fleck coming up on Wednesday on the PJ Fleck Show.

On the show, Fleck and the Fox 9 Sports Team will discuss throwing Zack Annexstad right into the fire on offense, the Gophers’ first opponent and also what he thinks this team can accomplish this season.

The PJ Fleck Show is Wednesday at 10:35 p.m. on Fox 9.
