Good Samaritan shot while attempting to break up robbery

A St. Paul man was shot while attempting to break up a robbery along University Avenue Wednesday night, according to police.

The St. Paul Police Department told the Star Tribune the victim and his girlfriend were driving east on University around 10 p.m. when they saw 4 teenage boys robbing a man. The woman, who was driving the car, honked the horn in an attempt to disrupt the robbery. When the teens did not stop, her boyfriend and another passenger in the car got out and approached the group.

One of the teens pulled out a gun and shot the victim several times. He was taken to Regions Hospital, where he remains in critical condition, according to the Star Tribune.

The robbery victim and his attackers fled the scene. Police are investigating the incident, but no arrests have been made.
