Hy-Vee voluntarily recalls fried rice for possible Listeria
Hy-Vee Vegetable Fried Rice is being recalled by the grocery chain for possible Listeria contamination.
WEST DES MOINES, IA (KMSP) - Hy-Vee grocery stores are pulling two frozen fried rice products off the shelves, due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The grocery chain is voluntarily recalling Hy-Vee Vegetable Fried Rice and frozen Hy-Vee Chicken Fried Rice products from the shelves, a move that comes in light of a recent recall of various frozen food products. Listeria can cause serious infections in children, elderly and those with weakened immune systems or even death.
The frozen Hy-Vee Vegetable Fried Rice product being recalled was sold in 1 lb. bags with the UPC number 000007545012530 and with a “use by” date of Nov. 5, 2017, or earlier. The frozen Hy-Vee Chicken Fried Rice product being recalled was sold in 20 oz. bags with the UPC number 0075450125290 and with a “use by” date of Nov. 5, 2017, or earlier.
So far, no illnesses have been reported in connection with this product.
Hy-Vee officials are urging customers to throw out the product or return it for a refund.
Last week, Trader Joe’s recalled Trader Joe’s Vegetable Fried Rice (SKU/Barcode 00521482) and Trader Joe’s Chicken Fried Rice (SKU/Barcode 00332514) as part of the Ajinomoto Windsor, Inc.’s voluntary recall of various not-ready-to-eat frozen food items.
