Far-right activist Jake Lang and others with him were arrested for riot after protests in downtown Minneapolis.

Jake Lang arrested in Minneapolis

What we know:

According to Minneapolis police, just before 12 p.m. Lang and his group arrived at Minneapolis City Hall in two vehicles.

Police say both vehicles drove onto a sidewalk outside city hall toward a gathered group of people there.

MPD officers then "moved in" and to get the vehicles off the sidewalk. Police say that both Lang's group and counter-protesters deployed mace.

No Minneapolis police officers deployed mace, the Minneapolis Police Department reported.

Lang's group was tracked down to two areas where the arrests occurred: Washington Avenue at Interstate 35W and in Bloomington near Lindau Lane and IKEA Way.

Police said all occupants in the vehicle, including Lang, were arrested for "probable cause riot", and both vehicles were impounded.

Four more arrests were made at city hall. Police say an officer was assaulted and brought to the hospital and has since been released.

What we don't know:

Police did not say how many others were arrested along with Lang. It is not clear if he is still in custody.

It is not known how many people were arrested at city hall.

More information will be given at a press conference with Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and Minneapolis police officials.
