TOP TEACHER: Sara Frater of Twin Lakes Elementary

ELK RIVER, Minn. (KMSP) - Fox 9 is honoring another Top Teacher!

Sara Frater is a first grade teacher at Twin Lakes Elementary in Elk River.

Kimberly Johnson, a colleague, nominated Frater for the recognition, calling her an outstanding teacher.

"She is always trying to perfect her craft," wrote Johnson. "She searches and finds new ideas that are impactful. Sara has a growth mindset and no mountain is ever too great to move. She is a humble and positive person who is always smiling."

Frater finds new ways to incorporate different technologies to reach different students. For one student, who is a selective mute, she discovered a way to communicate with him through technology.

She helps other teachers use the same devices and apps, encouraging the entire staff to creatively connect with students.

As a Fox 9 Top Teacher, Frater will receive $900 from Royal Credit Union for classroom supplies, a Subway sandwich party for 50 friends and a Top Teacher award.
