Woman found dead in Minneapolis alley

Update: The Hennepin County medical examiner identified the woman on Sunday as Minneapolis woman Victoria Ann Day, 23. Her death was classified as a homicide and she died of multiple gunshot wounds.

Minneapolis police said a woman was found dead in an alley early Saturday morning, but no arrests have been made at this time. Police are asking anyone with information to come forward.

At 1:20 a.m., police responded to a report of one down in the alley in the 2200 block of Elliot Avenue South. The woman was found dead at the scene with apparent gunshot wounds.

“The Inspector commanding the 3rd Precinct is increasing directed patrol in this area as well as asking officers for more community engagement in the affected neighborhood.  Residents will see more police in this area and are encouraged to share information and work with officers on this public safety issue,” police said in a news release.
