Vikings fan spells out rivalry: Fifth-grader couldn't write Jordan Love on test
CHAMPLIN, Minn. (FOX 9) - A fifth-grade student was willing to lose a point on his spelling test to prove how big of a Minnesota Vikings fan he is.
Jordan Love is spelled Sam Darnold
What we know: Nick Gulland told FOX 9 via email that his son Bennett, a fifth-grader in Champlin and huge Vikings fan, has a little rivalry going with his teacher, a Green Bay Packers fan.
Apparently they've had some playful banter all season, but it got interesting when it entered the curriculum, Gulland said. The teacher offered an extra credit spelling word on a recent test. The word was Jordan Love, the name of the Packers' quarterback.
Bennett spelled out Sam Darnold, the Vikings quarterback, instead. Bennett did lose out on the extra credit point.
What they're saying: "My son brought home the spelling test and explained to me as a Vikings fan he couldn't bring himself to write Jordan Love. So, he wrote Sam Darnold instead. I found it hilarious! I was also proud of him for taking his Vikings fandom to another level," Gulland told FOX 9.
