Minnesota Legislature to return with much done, much to do

The Minnesota Legislature will return from its Easter-Passover break on Tuesday with a remarkably high number of bills already signed into law, but with plenty of work ahead to complete a balanced two-year budget in the six weeks before the mandatory adjournment on May 22.

Target parking lot shooting: St. Paul Police press conference [RAW]

A man was shot and killed in St. Paul Thursday morning, according to police. Officers responded to a reported shooting around 9:50 a.m. at a Target parking lot on Suburban Avenue. While en route to the scene, officers received an update that a man suffering from an apparent gunshot injury was dropped off at a nearby fire station, St. Paul Police Sergeant Mike Ernster said in a press conference Thursday afternoon.

The popular Twin Cities restaurant Centro has launched a cloud kitchen concept called Hippo Pockets. Tye Sullivan, the food and beverage operations director for Hippo Pockets, joined FOX 9 Good Day to talk about the new concept.

St. Paul bird sanctuary takes in captive parrots

An organization in St. Paul is dedicated to providing sanctuary for unwanted parrots. In fact, since its founding in 1999, MAARS has given refuge and medical care to 1,500 birds. They have a big flock living freely in their unmarked two-story building. At any given time, roughly 85 parrots are living at the sanctuary. The organization is run by volunteers who tend to the daily needs of the flock. MAARS says although the birds are beautiful and entertaining, they can be very difficult and demanding in captivity.

Embattled Hamline University President announces retirement

The decision comes about two and half months after professors called for her resignation over her handling of an incident in which an adjunct professor lost her job after showing historic paintings depicting the Prophet Muhammad, sparking criticism from Muslim students.
