1 shot dead, 1 arrested in BBQ brawl at Mounds Park in St. Paul
ST. PAUL, Minn. (KMSP) - St. Paul police have arrested a suspect in Sunday night’s shooting at a barbeque in Mounds Park. Police described a "chaotic scene" with as many as 300 people gathered near Earl Street and Mounds Boulevard at 7:30 p.m. Officers responding to a report of a fight and found one man with apparent gunshot wounds, who was pronounced dead at the scene. One person was treated at Regions Hospital and has been released.
Monday morning, St. Paul police confirmed the arrest of 24-year-old Prince Kavanaugh Williams of Minneapolis. Officers with K9s were searching for multiple possible shooters Sunday night, but police couldn't confirm how many shooters there were.
Police could not confirm how many other victims there were, but are interviewing witnesses. A group of 20-some people gathered outside Regions Hospital shortly after police arrived at Mounds Park, and officers were standing outside the hospital Sunday evening.
"We don't know for sure how many shots were fired, who shot whom, and how many victims there were," St. Paul police spokesman Steve Linders said at a press conference before 9 p.m.
