Horse rescued after breaking through ice in western Wisconsin
ELK MOUND, Wis. (KMSP) - Dunn County sheriff’s deputies rescued a horse from freezing water Sunday after it fell through the ice on a private pond in western Wisconsin.
At 9:35 a.m., the Dunn County sheriff’s office received a report that three horses had broken through the ice on a pond in Elk Mound Township. The horses had gotten out of their enclosure, wandered onto a neighboring property and walked onto the frozen pond.
One of the three horses was rescued from the pond, the other two died from being submerged in the cold, deep water.
