New charges for driver after plowing into building, killing one

Robert Johnson, 63, of Zimmerman, Minnesota was arrested after he reportedly drove his pickup truck into a business on Monday, injuring five people. 

One man has died after a man drove his car into a building Monday in Zimmerman, Minnesota, upgrading charges for the driver.

Daniel Mark Elliott, 51, was inside of Zimmerman-based Reliant Systems when Robert Johnson drove his SUV into the business Monday, sending him to the hospital with critical injuries, according to a police release. The man died on Wednesday.

Johnson was originally charged with criminal vehicular operation and driving while intoxicated, with another charge for criminal vehicular homicide added Thursday.

According to a criminal complaint, Johnson admitted to drinking alcohol before the crash. He is next scheduled to be in court on Oct. 11.
