Roofing crew posers steal safes from Wis., Minn. homes
BELLE PLAINE, Minn. (KMSP) - Police believe a possible father and son duo posing as members of a roofing crew are responsible for a string of thefts in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
In May, two men reportedly told a retired doctor they were with his roofing crew in order to gain entrance into his home, according to the Belle Plaine Police Department. Once inside, one of the men walked the doctor into another room while the second walked into the doctor's bedroom and carried out a large safe to their car.
The first suspect was described as a 50-year-old smooth talking male with a potential southern accent. The second suspect was described as a 30-year-old male with no upper teeth. He is believed to be much younger than the first suspect.
Police believe the two men may be father and son.
Two men matching the description of the suspects were reported in Wisconsin last week also claiming to be with a roofing crew and stealing safes, money and jewelry.
