Sun Country names planes after Minnesota lakes, feature local art

(KMSP) - Sun Country Airlines plans to name each plane in its fleet after Minnesota lakes as part of its Hometown Lakes Project.

The project is an effort to strengthen community ties and inspire people to visit Minnesota. Each plane will also feature custom lake-themed art representative of the lake, according to a release.

Lake names will be featured on the exterior on both sides of the plane and outside the front boarding door. The art, designed by Minneapolis artist Mark Herman, will be displayed on the inside of the plane.
