RECIPE: French toast fruit roll-ups
This is such an awesome blend of two great things - French toast and fruit roll-ups. A little time consuming to make - yet absolutely delicious. I think if you can have an extra set of helping hands - it's a breeze.
This recipe will make enough for four people, but you can easily double it. For the cream cheese - you can use whatever flavor you like best. I'm thinking of how to do this in a savory version - what to toss it in at the end, maybe seasoned bread crumbs with Parmesan cheese.
Ingredients
Store-bought bread
4 eggs
2 tbsp. milk
splash of vanilla
Flavored cream cheese
Fresh blueberries, raspberries or strawberries
Cinnamon Sugar to toss roll-ups
Maple syrup for finishing.
Directions
Mix the eggs, milk and vanilla together - set aside.
Cut the crust off the bread slices and flatten the bread with your fingers. Spread a generous amount of cream cheese over the bread, then add the fruit on one end. Roll up that end tight. Dip in custard wash. Fry in butter until golden brown on all sides. Toss in cinnamon sugar - drizzle with maple syrup and enjoy!
