Vikings’ Cam Bynum continues Philippines support with foundation

Minnesota Vikings safety Camryn Bynum wants to use his growing platform to help communities in the Philippines.

How he helps

On Monday night, the Filipino-American hosted a fundraiser in St. Paul - the Bynum Faith Foundation’s second annual Filipina Fiesta.

"Give all glory - first and foremost - to Jesus Christ, for blessing us with the platform and the opportunity to be able to bless other people," Bynum said at the event. "It’s not any glory to us, but all glory to God for giving us this platform to be able to bring resources to other people."

Philippines in focus

The event showcased "all things Filipino," including traditional dancing and authentic cuisine.

There was also a silent auction and raffle to raise money to buy boats for a fishing village in the Philippines. Bynum says the boats will create jobs for people in need.

Last season, Bynum wore a Philippines flag decal on his helmet for the game, and wore the country’s flag in the locker room after calling attention to visa issues he was having with his wife – who is from the Philippines.

"I’m just thankful for every single person that donates," Bynum said. "Literally any amount would help and bless other people… we’ve seen lives touched."
